Description
Yttria-doped barium zirconates (BZY & BZCY) are used as an electrolyte in Proton Ceramic Fuel Cells (PCFC) due to their excellent chemical stability and high ionic conductivity. PCFCs are being investigated as an alternative to SOFCs since they can be operated at lower temperatures (less than 600 °C) and move protons instead of electrons, since protons are a more mobile charge carrier.
